Conference venue / Accommodation

There are hotels and guesthouses in various price segments in Jena that can be booked through the usual channels. Early reservation of hotel rooms is strongly recommended.

 

 

There is a canteen and a cafeteria on the university campus (conference venue). EC cards and Visa cards are accepted as means of payment. However, cash is not accepted.

Grants for students

Students can apply for grants towards their travel expenses if they are the first author of a paper and actively present it at the conference.

 

 

An informal application should be sent to the conference management (dgg2024@uni-jena.de) by 21.12.2023, stating the poster or presentation title.

Conference program

The free pocket conference program (without abstracts) will be handed out in printed form at the conference office upon registration.

 

All abstracts are available on the conference website. 

Poster

At least 2 poster sessions of 60 minutes each will take place daily. There will be no presentations during this time. One of the authors must be present during the poster presentations.

 

The format is A0 portrait format (portrait). Material for attaching the posters will be provided in the conference office on site.

Presentations

The presentation time is 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion. Presentations must be available on a suitable data carrier (USB stick) in PDF or Microsoft Powerpoint format and must be uploaded to the server in room SR 121 as soon as possible, but no later than 60 minutes beforehand.

 

Presentations for an early morning session should be handed in the evening before. The technology and assistance are available daily from 8.00 am.

If you wish to play videos, we strongly recommend that you test the presentation in the presentation room beforehand.

Plenary presentations

The presentation time is 45 minutes plus 15 minutes for discussion.

The presentations must be available on a suitable data carrier (USB stick) in PDF or Microsoft Powerpoint format and must be copied to the presentation computer provided in the lecture hall at least 15 minutes before the start of the session.

Awards

The three best posters and presentations by young scientists (students and doctoral candidates who have not yet completed their doctorate) will each receive a prize of €150. The winners will receive their certificates at the closing event on Thursday.

Internet access

Free WLAN access will be permanently available during the DGG conference. Two connection options will be provided: 

  1. Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a member of the worldwide university EDUROAM network. All those who have EDUROAM access at their home university can connect to the internet at the conference venue using their usual login details. This is the simplest and preferred option.

  2. For all others (or in case of login problems) WLAN vouchers are available at the conference office.

Childcare

Flexible and demand-oriented childcare (from 3 months to 6 years of age) can be organized during the annual conference in cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen (JUni-Kinder)
